Our Bridge Club

Burnham on Crouch Bridge Club meets every Thursday at the the Village Hall.

We play a good standard of competitive bridge in a friendly and sociable atmosphere.

New members are always welcome.

Ample parking space exists.

Please arrive at 7.15pm for a prompt start at 7.25pm

We organise Markets and Fayres at the Village Hall under the banner of
Maldon & Dengie Events 'pop up' markets.

We do have quite a lot of stallholders on the books which we call upon when we organise one but are
always looking for some new or different ones as well.

RECENTLY RETIRED? WISHING TO SOCIALISE MORE? LOOKING TO KEEP THE BRAIN-CELLS ACTIVE?

The Burnham branch of the U3A meets at the Village Hall on the first Friday of each month when we sometimes have mainly professional speakers talking on a wide range of topics. Between monthly meetings there is a choice of nearly 30 activities in which you may wish to partake:

Art, Latin, Badminton, Photography, Line Dancing, Gardening, Poetry Reading, Philosophy, Music Appreciation, Film Club, Scrabble, Bridge and History to name but a few. These are run by group leaders with more than a passing knowledge of each subject and are usually held in members' homes or at the Dengie Sports Centre.

Burnham Pre-School

Burnham Pre-School provides early years services from age two to under five years for the local community and surrounding areas. The Pre-School is open five days a week during school term times. Session times are from 9am-12pm Monday to Friday with Lunch Club offered from 12pm-1.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Afternoon Club from 1.30pm-3pm on Monday and Wednesday.

The Dengie Hopes & Dreams Stage Company was formed to offer the people of the Dengie Hundred a unique opportunity to work together to produce a staged musical show during the summer holiday.

The company is a community group based in the Dengie Hundred district of Essex, which includes the villages of Burnham on Crouch, Southminster, Asheldham, Dengie, Maylandsea, Steeple, Saint Lawrence, Althorne, Latchingdon, Tillingham and Bradwell on Sea. Membership is open to anyone aged eleven and over.

The company puts on one production each year during the month of August. Rehearsals and performances all happen in the space of one hectic week. If you would like more information feel free to contact Tom on 01621 784586

Cosmo Yoga
currently runs beginner-intermediate classes at Burnham Village Hall Mondays at 11:00am and Wednesdays at 6:00pm, and a more advanced class Wednesdays at 7:00pm. All classes are Vinyasa Flow in style and work to improve breathing, physical awareness and balance, fitness, core strength, and relaxation. Cosmo Yoga is run by Jo and Sean, who are Yoga Alliance UK certified teachers, fully Insured and have been teaching regularly in Burnham and elsewhere in Essex since 2010.

On the third Sunday of every month the Burnham-on-Crouch Farmers Market
brings together fresh, seasonal produce from around the local area.

The Royal British Legion Branch (Women's Section) meets every third Monday of the month (except January and August) from 2.30 to 4.30pm.

Our purpose is to support the ex-Servicemen and serving troop communities and through the Welfare Programme we work to improve the life of the men and women, families and dependants whatever age and background.

We also enjoy social events, fundraising and invite speakers to our meetings from various walks of life.

Action for Family Carers :

RESPITE GROUP - 10.00 am until 2.30 pm. - A weekly respite group each Thursday provides a break for a carer  and a day out for their cared-for. Lunch is cooked on the premises and trained care assistants will be in attendance.
